I'll get soundclips to all the 45 scans...

I'm also going to try to write a piece on what I now refer to as 'Psych Funk' or 'Stoned Soul', things like Sidney Owens & The Monticellos, downtempo weird soul/funk with moody beats & psychedelic undertones...

Brent, keep up the sterling work fella & let's have some more of you posting up some rare scans!!

I call it Psychedelic Soul. Did I spell that right? Can blog sites be split into categories? I was chatting to Fryer last night about the 'styrene files'. It would be cool to present scans of styrene and vinyl issues whenever there is a clear difference. Sometimes it can be hard to tell a styrene from a low-res scan seen on ebay. Also nice to know there's a vinyl version of previously thought styrene only track.

I'm trying to figure out how to do the category thing. I just added new comments to the sidebar. If anyone can help out with this let me know.

Hey, Brent, whoever, would you call, say, that "Dude" 45 by Pappy's Haunted Family "psych funk" or whatever? Though "black psychedelia" does at first seem somewhat appropriate here, it assumes that black psychedelia would "of course" be soulful, funky, whatever. Vs. pssychedelic music made by black musicians.

Jimi Hendrix, "Stone Free"? The Chambers Brothers, "Time Has Come Today"? The Equals, "Skies Above"? Ebony Rhythm Band, "Drugs Ain't Cool"? Chubby Checker, "My Mind" c/w "Stoned in the Bathroom"? Maybe I oughtta listen to the sound clips here ...

The best Brenton Wood cut is Union-Strike or the unreleased version Jungle Breakdown with him singing vocals over the strike backing track. He sang it to me over the phone!
